Our assessment team will conduct an array of behavioral assessments to gauge your child's language, social skills abilities, functional development and skill acquisition. Information from these assessments will be used to create a treatment plan of best fit for your child. Assessments may include: VB-MAPP, Vineland-II, FBAs, Reinforcer Assessments, ABLLS-R, TOPS, TOPS-3 and TOPL.

Our talented staff conduct 1:1 ABA therapy sessions in the home, school and community settings based on the individual targets of your child. Our therapy sessions include, but are not limited to, group participation, language development, motor imitation and movement, social skills training, functional communication, reducing problem behaviors, teaching appropriate replacement behaviors, implementing token economies, developing self-help and grooming skills, play skills, transitions and routines, waiting skills, attention span, safety/self-awareness, tutoring and more! Some approaches commonly used include natural environment training (NET), Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), and discrete trial training (DTT). It is important to note that sessions are based on the individual needs of the child as identified during the intake and assessment period

Order of Events

In-home ABA most often begins with an autism diagnosis, though some other diagnoses may also qualify for ABA services, depending on the insurance provider. Once we receive authorization for assessment, the intake assessment will be conducted (this requires both the client and caregiver to be present). The BCBA will then develop a preliminary treatment plan and submit it to the client’s insurance carrier for approval of 1:1 services and caregiver training.

Once an insurance authorization is obtained, a welcome meeting is provided to help caregivers acclimate and sessions are scheduled and conducted for the client and caregivers. Although the BCBA case supervisor will be present at the welcome meeting, introduction to the behavior technician on the case may occur during the meeting or shortly thereafter.

Based on the clinical recommendation of hours, a bi-weekly schedule is created, typically comprising 10-40 hours/week. Sessions primarily involve a behavior technician running programs specified in the treatment plan, collecting data during each session, writing comprehensive SOAP notes, and helping parents to understand how to facilitate the client’s progress. BCBAs will periodically also attend sessions, both in-person and via video-conference, to oversee Technician performance, observe client progress, and update treatment plans. BCBAs will also meet with parents regularly to provide caregiver training in an effort to better support parents and clientele.

Length of Services

The amount and length of services will vary from client to client based on the severity of their diagnosis, frequency and intensity of services and insurance authorizations. Some children achieve behavior goals and are discharged within as little as 3-6 months. Other children benefit from continued ABA services throughout their childhood. Services are generally faded off prior to discontinuation.
